Mixed game poker strategy

How to study mixed game GTO.

Game theory optimal strategy is a balanced plan that cannot be profitably exploited when both players respond perfectly. In mixed games, the correct model must also understand each variant’s hand ranking, betting structure, draw decisions, position, and remaining stack.

Starting ranges, equity, and GTO are related—but not interchangeable

Starting-hand guide

A range guide organizes the hands that may enter a pot and shows their likely draw plans. It is a practical model, not proof of equilibrium play.

Equity calculator

An equity calculator estimates how often hands win or split after legal draws. It does not account for betting, folds, bluffing, or future bet sizes.

GTO solver

A solver evaluates an action tree and repeatedly adjusts both players’ strategies toward a Nash equilibrium approximation. Results are specific to the selected rules and sizes.

Mixed game strategy resources

Choose a draw game to compare its starting hands, rules, and equity. A full experimental solver is currently available for heads-up no-limit 2-7 Single Draw.

Badacy GTO study

The strongest cards help both halves: low, unpaired ranks with distinct suits. A hand that is excellent for only one side risks winning half of a pot it helped build.

A solve only answers the game that was configured

Changing stack depth, bet sizes, position, draw count, or either player’s starting range changes the game tree and can change the recommended strategy. A result for heads-up no-limit 2-7 Single Draw should not be transferred directly to fixed-limit Triple Draw or a multiway table.

Mixed Game Pro labels range models and equity simulations separately from solver output. Use the 2-7 Single Draw GTO solver for action-tree study, or browse the draw game equity calculators when your question is about a specific hand and draw decision.

Mixed game GTO FAQ

Is every starting-hand chart GTO?

No. A chart can be a useful range model without being generated from a complete equilibrium solve. Always check what positions, stack, betting structure, and opponent assumptions it represents.

Can equity tell me whether to bet or call?

Not by itself. Equity measures showdown outcomes, while a betting decision also depends on pot odds, fold equity, future actions, position, and the opponent’s strategy.

Which mixed game has a solver here?

The current experimental solver models heads-up no-limit 2-7 Single Draw. The other draw games currently have starting-hand guides and equity calculators.
