Seven-Card Stud is a traditional high poker game with no shared board. Players receive seven cards over five betting streets—three hidden and four exposed—and use the best five-card poker hand they can make.

Winning objective
Make the highest standard five-card poker hand from your seven cards. Ordinary high-hand rankings apply, from one pair through a royal flush.
Deal and drawing
After antes, each player receives two cards down and one door card up. The lowest door card brings in. Players then receive three more upcards and a final downcard, with betting after every street; the big-bet limit normally begins on fifth street.
Key comparison
Most of the table’s cards are visible. Track folded and exposed ranks and suits because a draw may be live, thin, or already impossible before the river arrives.

Live cards shape every draw
A four-flush is far less valuable when many cards of that suit are visible in opponents’ boards or folded hands. Count what remains before investing more bets.
The first three cards must connect
High pairs, three-card flushes, and coordinated straight cards can develop into strong hands. Split, disconnected holdings often become expensive second-best hands.
Your board tells a public story
Opponents can see four of your seven cards. Use both their visible strength and your own board texture when deciding whether to value bet, continue, or represent improvement.
